Cutting the cord was destined to be ruined as a viable option once every media conglomerate and their mother wanted to chase the Netflix model. If they could find a way to cut out the middle man of being part of a cable package and offer a streaming service, they will. You now have Netflix, HBO, Showtime, Hulu, Amazon, CBS and now Disney offering their own content for these things. It's adding up quick.
