How much was your DVR(or are you leasing)? How much is your cable bill per month? Do you find fast forwarding through commercials immersion breaking?

Atm we're paying CAD 90 a month, which includes leasing the pvr and remote terminal (for the bed room), premium channel package (way too many but it includes the channels my wife and I like). To compare, unlimited internet access starts at CAD 100 a month.

Ofcourse it's immersion breaking, better than not being able to fast forward though. While watching shows on Netflix I still notice the weird breaks where the commercials are supposed to be. One benefit of ffwding commercials is an excuse to get up for a drink or bathroom break. When we're watching Netflix it never feels like the right moment to pause it.

That isn't terrible, when you add in my unlimited internet we are paying about the same per month.  I only ever have to watch one commercial per show at the beginning (on most shows I watch on Hulu) of each episode and I have unlimited internet and the perks of a Prime membership.  However I do not watch live sporting events something that would require additional subscriptions.  There are trade offs to both.
