The guy's put up 4.2 points for the entire season.

Forget waiting for him to be put on waivers; I can pick up a more promising TE from the free agent pool if I really want to right now.

Yeah, right now. Because Eifert is injured.

Your attitude is perplexing, because you are the guy who traded to get David Johnson on his roster, a player who has barely scored any fantasy points this season and has been put on injured reserve. Why would you do this? Oh right, because you are banking on Johnson putting up points once he is healthy again. That's based on his fantasy points from last season and the role he plays in Arizona's offense.

But somehow the above can't be applied to Eifert who has been one of the best TEs in the league when it comes to TD potential because he is Dalton's favorite target in the redzone. There aren't many TEs in the league of whom you can confidently say that they have a good chance to score a TD in any given week.

Please provide a list of TEs from the current free agent pool that are more promising than Eifert.

The above cannot be applied to Eifert, for a couple reasons.

First off, trading an active player (or even giving up a slot for an active player) in exchange for an injured player is always a risk. In the case of David Johnson, it's a risk that may or may not end up being worth it, because Johnson was the top RB in the league last year. In the case of Tyler Eifert, there's no reason to believe it will be worth it, for a couple of reasons. First, the guy averages just barely over seven games played per season over the last three years; he's quickly becoming a notable injury risk after suffering some severe elbow damage in 2014 and was placed on IR in 2016 to go along with this. Secondly, he simply hasn't put up the production when healthy to be worth both the risk and the games he'd have to sit now. 2015, the last year where he played 8 or more games, he averaged 8.67 points, which is decent, but hardly worth the risk. He's put up a combined 4.2 points in the two games he's been healthy this year.

You'd be better off going with someone like Luke Wilson or Vernon Davis, who don't share the same injury concerns and on average put up comparable numbers.
