I look at it like you are buying Spiderman Homecoming. You are getting the whole movie. There is one version that include 15 minutes of deleted scenes and a bloopers reel. The other not. I would watch the movie Day One. The extra content is not worth the time that i will have to wait while others are enjoying the game. |
In your point though, you are making the DLC irrelivent. In most cases it is, but I'm saying the DLC is important stuff. Stuff people want. I believe this topic was made due to the Destiny DLC being finally reelased for Xbox like 2 years later. Stuff that was missing was more than just cosmetics or bloopers.
Lets look at recent movies. Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.
Both had extended cuts. Suicide Squads extended cut was superficial and what one woudl consider just cosmetic pointless dlc. Batman v Superman was quite substantial dlc that improved the movie vastly. Those who waited for the BvS DLC to watch the complete edition were the lucky ones. Didn't matter what version of SS you watched, you got the same experience.
Or think of FF15, which kind of reminds me of BvS in that regard. A good story and game, yet with huge chunks missing. I wasn't a fan of FF15, but I would recommend the complete edition whenever that comes out to someone. Right now, I would say wait, and I wish the game was still not out. The game took like 10 years to come out, I coudl have waited another 3 years for it to be finished. I would have liked to play the game when it is complete. Now though, having played the incomplete version I really don't have a desire to play it again. Rewatching a movie is one thing, replaying a 60+ hour game is another.
But I've quit buying season passes or DLC packs early. Not because I don't see them as being worth it. Many times they are worth the price, but because most of the time by the time they release I no longer care about said game and I ended up paying for some DLC i never play. Hell I'm 99% sure I am going to play the Zelda DLC, but I finally did what is smart and have waited for it to release before I purchase, meaning I have yet to purchase. On other hand, I did purchase FF15 season pass. Haven't even downloaded a single one of the DLC's that came out yet and have no desire to. $20 down the drain.
