The US has 4.88/100 000 people, versus 0.98 in australia (and similar numbers in other fully devellopped nations.)

 

For its development, there is no question that the US is an outlier, in its violence.

True but how many of that is due to gang activity? I think that skews the data a lot.

I don't know exactly how wide-spread gangs are in the US, but take in consideration that every single US state has a homicide rate higher than Germany, and all but 1 have homicide rate above that of Australia. 

 

While gangs in detroit, new york, etc... do contribute significantly, I think that it's fair to say that violence is definitely a more general problem in the country
