Sony won't target the first half of a year for a console launch because most of the big third party games aren't releasing at that time of the year. Sony's first party studios won't be anywhere close to ready for a new console so early; some are still working on finishing their first PS4 game and that console is almost four years old now. Microsoft is slowly retreating from the console business, so there's no pressure from that side. If Microsoft was still serious about selling as many consoles as possible, they would have scrapped the Xbox One X and prepared for Xbox 4 in 2018, Instead they insist on dragging out a generation that they clearly lost a long time ago. There are more reasons that speak against an early 2019 launch, but I can't be bothered to type them out. |
Nobody believes us when we say that MS is slowly leaving the console business. We gotta find a good thread to necro in 2022 when everybody asks where Xbox consoles went. :D
