Exactly, why would we want only the state (the institution by which the ruling classes retain their power) to have the means of violence? That is ridiculous.
The only thing that keeps the U.S from becoming a full blown plutocracy is that the capitalist and political classes fear being personally shot if they explicitly exerted their power through force.
