They cost hundreds of thousands here too, on the legal market. An assault rifle is about $10,000 - $20,000 and there are significant legal restrictions on owning them (a six month long process + a $200 tax stamp.)
The spraying sound from the video and the number injured definitely puts what he had (at least some of it) as Class III weapons, which are about as illegal in the U.S as they are most places (certain private citizens can get them after the vetting process.)
