The Wiiu was dead by then so it actually served Nintendo better. Sony will want the PS4 to continue selling well past the PS5 release since that enefits them from a financial position. We saw this with GoW2 and GT6: both releasing when the successor consoles were out.

Maybe TLOU2 is cross platform, but I think its far beneficial for a GOTY edition for PS5 while the PS5 launches with actual non-PS4 games, something 3rd parties might not even do so they will need to do it.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, it's not exactly the same, I have to agree, though I think mindsets are changing as the strategies change.
