"Someday soon we can all leave Microsoft behind"
I'd say someday in the distant future... We had this song and dance for decades when it comes to Linux vs Windows. Some new Linux improvement comes along and some dude says, hell yea! Soon, everyone will switch to Linux!
In reality, most people are just happy using Windows and while Windows 10 has a lot of urks, it is still my main go to OS because apart from privacy concerns, there is nothing about it that is super terrible in my experience. And of course, it's familiar and blah blah blah.
Linux continues to be great as a back-end OS or as a mobile OS. But as a consumer Desktop OS, it won't get attraction for decades to come. Idk what Linux specifically needs to do to become that but until it does, it won't come close to replacing windows for most people.
