Just read this. I wanted looking forward to the rewind feature and, if I see one I'll but it but he's right. Now, I don't feel so bad.

I didn't have a snes in my childhood, my parents bought an msx. I played link to the past for the first time yesterday and the rewind feature already came in handy. I haven't played any of the games but even if I did, the plug and play, 2 controllers, simple to setup and put away nature of the system makes it more than worth it.

It's a good experiment, do old games really hold up without nostalgia. For first impressions, Donky Kong Country, ace! Great game, although I have to unlearn to counter steer while landing. I guess modern platformers all have that slide/drift built in... Not used to the controls being so precise :)
A Link to the past starts great, played for 40 minutes, want to play more. Classic Zelda itch fulfilled.
Super Mario World, oh it's just like Mario Maker but a full game. Looks great.
F-Zero, pretty rough looking but fun, not as easy as it looks.

That's all I tried so far. Snes mini gets a 9/10 from me. Have to dock a point for short cables. (They had wireless controllers available but then I have to charge those again. I used a longer HDMI cable instead so the convenient reset aka save/rewind button is in reach)
