You know, I really [censored] hate having to repeat myself. MMO is a genre, FFXIV is also a Final Fantasy title. so every time you approach it, it is a Final Fantasy game.

A change in genre is a significant reason to have that reflected in the title. Last thing you want is for a fan of the mainline series to buy it and find out afterwards that it requires a monthly fee, and that you're forced into playing with a group of other players for certain missions (there were at least 5 such dungeons and 3 boss battles in the original XIV), and that the game is designed to be properly experienced when playing in a community, etc.
It's a Final Fantasy game, like Fantasy Star Online is a Fantasy Star game.

Anyway, call it mainline if you want. Just don't say that the number on the box determines that. It's because of people who think that way that companies put misleading titles on games.

As for FFXV's story, "ask the internet" is not a great source in this case, seeing as many people seem to have preconvieved notions of DLC. However the one other person in this thread who replied to my post (Wright) said he considers FFXV's story to be complete, even if the story had issues. You don't have to be satisfied with the actual story to consider it a complete story in the same way previous FF games were.

In case you didn't freaking notice, I'm calling it the way the developers are calling it. So excuse me for trying to educate you. I've had enough of your bullshit speculations, so move on to the real topic off this thread.

You must be out if your damn mind to compare 14 to phantasy star online..

Actually I was the one who educated you with examples of publishers adding or excluding numbers in titles for misleading purposes.
But looks like you forgot that lesson fast.

As for the main topic, if FFXV's story is complete, I added it to my previous post while you were replying, but here it is again. "Ask the internet" is not a great source in this case, seeing as many people seem to have preconvieved notions of DLC. However the one other person in this thread who replied to my post (Wright) said he considers FFXV's story to be complete, even if the story had issues. If you want to debate why FFXV's story is incomplete, that could be an interesting subject.

Oh FFS. tell me where it's misleading.

You know, you might consider FFXV to be complete, but not Tabata. Considering the surveys, and adding more story related updates and possible new season pass.
