And no, I don't think the Switch is something given to us by ailens...where did you even come up with that? It has more to do with getting on board with future proof tech than anything else. Sony has lost Japan, they've lost it. A huge gaming market over there belongs to mobile and Nintendo. They need to do SOMETHING in Japan. We'll see what happens though. All I know is the prospect of having console style games anywhere and executing that plan well is the future of gaming. I know the Switch isn't the first console to do TV out on a handheld...hell the Gamegear did that. but the way our society has become so mobile, it will almost be laughable if a device of some sort isn't portable. Hell, there'll probably be a time if we're on the earth so long that consoles and handhelds won't exist. Smart devices will probably be able to handle AAA gaming and the rest will be history. I don't like the prospect but it's almost inevitable. Everybody grows attached to the way they've known something but like I said the industry is moving at a pace where staying stagnant won't prove beneficial.

Switch is just the beginning of it all. Did you see the way Digital Foundry were losing their Shit when they saw Doom running on such a small device at the rate it was running? They know that shit's about to get real in the mobile chip space and simply being one device won't cut it once these chips evolve even further.

How can you say Sony lost Japan when this year alone the PS4 got games like Nioh, Persona 5, Nier Automata, Yakuza 0 and Kiwami, etc (without taking into consideration the ones that have released, and will be released next year and beyond).

Because the Switch is selling more than the PS4 in Japan in most weeks? So? How about the rest of the world? For the developers it doesnt matter wher the money comes from, money is money.

The Japanese market are Pro Handheld and that is no secret. It is also common knowledge that Sony failed at the handheld market. But that isnt the whole picture.

Where are the japanese games? Who's got better japanese 3rd party support?

Like i said, the Switch in my opinion is not revolutionary. Not at all.

It is a well presented idea with a well made machine. That is it. It wont be replacing the videogame model that we know, at least not in my lifetime. Both markets will always co-exist. The stationary console, and the portable console.

I think Nintendo should release a cheaper, non portable Switch BTW.
