Not saying it is not cool sometimes but I do not think it will ever go mainstream. So you want to say that back in the 70's people imagined that gaming would be like what it is today? Don't force it.
People were blew away because there were nothing similar. Today you are going back in the IQ and complexity of games to add VR so you feel you are losing. But when we look at people that never experienced VR before and aren't gamers, even rollercoaster simulators make them speachless.
