Well he did back off very quickly from going after Hillary after the elections. Perhaps he was gearing up for his own defense considering he dealt with the devil Paul Manafort.
Usually it takes months if not years to backtrack what you stated on the election trail. Obama took forever to full realize Gitmo wasn't going to be shutdown no matter how hard he tried to empty as many people that were there. Remember when Obama was supposed to get rid of the "patriot" act?
