Now here is something really interesting. EU Commission’s report on the effect of piracy on the legitimate sales of video-games has found that piracy can actually benefit publishers. According to the report, piracy increases video-games sales by 24%.
This positive effect of illegal downloads and streams on the sales of games may be explained – as the report reads – by the industry being successful in converting illegal users to paying users.

Spotted by Kotaku, War for the Overworld studio Brightrock Games warned its users of some imminent changes to the game's prices in a new blog post. In an update to its price matrix, eleven new currencies will be supported on Steam, including Australia. (The studio's announcement concerns changes to its regional pricing based on the new functionality.)

Kaze Emanuar, best known for his amazing online romhack for Super Mario 64, has been experimenting with the Unity Engine and released a demo featuring SEGA’s blue hedgehog. Sonic Adventure : Last Impact is a fan game – currently in prototype stage – that mixes Sonic with Mario 64: Last Impact’s environemnt, and is based on the Hedge Physics middleware.

While The Evil Within was a really interesting game, it suffered from some really awful performance issues on both consoles and the PC. And when its sequel was announced, a lot of us wondered whether it would be powered by the id Tech 5 or the id Tech 6 Engine. Well, it appears that neither of them will be powering as Tango Gameworks has developed a new engine that is based on the id Tech Engine, called STEM Engine.
