How else can video games look as good and make a profit. Competition is hard.
What's the alternative? Unions for a better workplace environment, followed by shipping all the jobs to cheaper countries without them... But true, in game development your job is supposed to be your passion 24/7, that's your life, be grateful for working on games, or entertainment in general :/
