War between the countries is well beyond that point. China has no leverage in that scenario, and China depends on U.S consumers. The moment China compromises its economic security is the moment the Chinese become unsatisfied and call for political change. They're not going to put their necks out for North Korea. 

china has the biggest gold reserves in the world, fort knox is a joke compared to the gold China has been amassing. If china dumps their US treasures/dollars, US will be hit by tremendous inflation.
