Where has anyone in this thread said anything about "pre-emptive" attacks?. They (NK) have directly stated that Guam, the US and south korea (it's own neighbour) are targets, that japan should be "bombed till it sinks beneath the ocean", tested hydrogen bombs, shot live missles over Japanese air space (if the guidence systems failed it could potentially have killed hundreds of thousands). In such a climate, It's perfectly acceptable to put your foot down and say "if you force our hand and attack us or our allies (force us to defend ourselves) we will attack back in kind", sure he went the whole hog and said Totally Destroy, and that's a bit much, but we're at a point now where military here is conducting live fire drills, the mountain range of Nagasaki and Hokkaido are dotted with PAC3 launchers, every military base the whole length of the country are running radar 24/7 with a full battery of fighter planes ready to launch in short order. We are literally playing a waiting game, when NK initiates an attack, and we are talking when, not if, but when they initiate an attack, there will be no other option but to strike back directly. Diplomacy has had 11 years to try and resolve this, and nothing good came of it, whether it was with Obama or Trump, NK has consistently ignored all efforts to get them to stop and pushed forward, with the ultimate goal of using an active, launch ready nuclear weapon to blackmail it's neighbours. There is no black and white here, so take your loaded questions elsewhere. |
I had heard that their rockets keep falling apart (perhaps that is true, perhaps it is not, for now I'll assume it is), I don't know about killing hundreds of thousands but if the ones they are flying over Japan happen to break up it could kill a small number of people. I wouldn't think they would waste any kind of warhead they are still testing.
