Is violence becoming more socially acceptable than "offensive words"?

Yeah, there's something that shocked me about my teacher at school. She literally showed us a video of a man getting shot and killed, but would not let us listen to Eminem because it had profanity. Like she thinks hearing a bad word is worse than seeing a murder.
