Strange, considering that I live under a monarchy right now, and I definitely don't want its existence.

you live in a hierarchy and there is absolutely no chance that you will ever not live under a hierarchy... there are always going to be people who are better tan you and better at gathering resources than you, who are going to be more popular etc etc etc

 

the difference now is that you live in a hierarchy that if you aren't lazy and apply yourself you can rise up and carve out a decent or better lifestyle for yourself

 

under a hierarchy where you give up that right to auhtority figures you won't have that ability

 

which one is preferable? to be have as much control over your destiny as possible? or let others dictate that for you?
