Actually this is incorrect. I can rememeber on a few occassions where callign someone redneck has caused people to get repremanded. As for the other terms they are not considered in the same light. In the end, you can be fired for any term that depicks another race or person in a negative hateful way, whether its white, black, hispanic etc. Most places of business just do not want to deal with the legal issues such sitatuations places them in. You are right a company usually will have some reason but it can all be crap when it comes to terminate. I have seen this before a lot and if you say live in Ohio its pretty easy to pretty much fire you for walking on the lawn if the company so chooes. You cannot litigate or anything. Like I said, this guy could have easily been setup. College wanted him gone looked for a reason, found it whether it's true or not doesn't matter because if it's a right to work state, bye. |
Reprimended for one, expedite termination on the other, sure they are about the same thing. And the guy in case wasn't portraying any race or person negativelly, he was using an accent and offering a food joking with a good friend. The report was ill intended and the school took it without even caring. And I'm sure the other guy doing the british accent wouldn't get fired for being a racist.
Yes its their right to fire, but using BS excuses set them to have to pay almost 100k to avoid further issues.
