That could also be applied to Sony and, to an extent, Microsoft (though now first party games are on PC along with Xbox) as well |
Sure it could be applied to both, the thing is Sony makes much more money on 3rd party royalties (and need the 1st party only as diferentiator) than with their HW and 1st party titles, same with Xbox. Also the money they make on their stores and multiplayer fee.
While Nintendo sells much more SW than the 2 so it would be the one that benefits the most from their IP exposure.
PS and MS titles sell no more than to 1/4 of their userbase, in fact their best 1st party on 7th gen sold something like 1/6. And 3rd party outsold then. While on WiiU we had titles that sold in excess of 2/3 of their userbase and were in front of 3rd parties.
So PS4 having 100M userbase or it being on 500M userbase with other platforms for Sony games would bring less profits (because their games wouldn't sell much better than what they currently do) compared to WiiU 15M against 500M.

Do you have proof otherwise? I could inundate you with the number of bundles GTA V has had over the years and across all the platforms but I'll admit the research is beyond the time I currently have to show you. Also, see below.
Do I need to....actually, yes, I need to. Because some people can't read. "No doubt that GTA V would still be one of the best selling games of all time without the bundles and very likely is the highest seller of all time if bundles are removed. " "GTA would still be in the top 3 best selling titles of all time, if not THE best selling, if unbunbled. Again, that doesn't take away from GTA V's accomplishment." If this is hard for you to read and understand, just say so.
Let me explain again, for the 3rd time, that we do not have a breakdown of GTA V's bundled to unbunbled sales. Despite that, and sad as fuch that this apparently needs to be in bold, caps and underlined...GTA V is likely the most sold unbundled video game of all time. I'd give it a unique color if VGC made that easy to do but they don't. So, once more for the people in the back, because this shit was bought up by your own people, Wii Sports and GTA V are both insantly bundled video games. Wii Sports bundled directly outside of Asia, few, if any, inside of Asia. GTA V has a major multi-year bundle on every console it has released on. Do you have specific sales number for bundled and unbunbled Wii Sports? Yes? Great. Do you have specific sales numbers for bundles and unbundled GTA V? No? Great. Then my point from the very begining still stands. If you wish to stand on it with me, bring me some unbundled sales data. Other wise, step off and take your agenda bullshit with you. |
Yes please do, because I'm just that dumb as you wanted to say but forgot to put.
No your point doesn't stand at all.
So I'll have to repeat myself. Comparing a game that was available unbundled and had bundle competitors at the whole time can't be compared to a game that had more than 95% of its sales bundled and in the territory they were unbundled it sold under 30% ratio (which would put it around 30M total at best instead of 82M). SO both are in completely different realms to try and make the comparison.
