Not a horror story but I do have a story that's kind of amusing (at least to me).
A bunch of us were playing basketball at a friend's house. One regular drives up with someone new. It's this guy who is a couple of years older than the rest of us and is kind of infamous for always wearing a full ensemble of (famous player) gear, even at school. The thing is, his older brother is a friend of very well-known NBA player and the younger brother always ends up with branded gear from him. That was his big bragging point and kind of his identity.
So we choose teams and, since I'm the best defender on my team, I get to cover Mr. NBA. He's acting all cocky and he has several inches on me so I'm kind of nervous.
The game starts and he squares up against me at the top of the key. Now, like I said, he has several inches on me but for some reason he brings the ball down really low, holding it with both hands, and swings it back and forth in front of him. I'm sure this looks really awesome and cool but it's also really dumb. I just reach out and poke it away.
This happens several times over the course of the game. He swings the ball low and I knock it away. He gets more and more annoyed and starts calling "foul". Eventually other people are like, "nah, that's not a foul," and they start doing it when they guard him, too.
The thing is, he was really pretty good in an all-around sense but the fact that he tried to showboat and base his game on something his favorite NBA player did was a glaring weakness. I don't think he ever came back.
