You can't compare the scope of a Mario game and a AAA game.

This one has humans, compare them to Nathan Drake, compare how a building looks like, what grass looks like, what water looks like, the amount of pre rendered things and events, the scope and quantity of effects going on.

It's nice Nintendo style of games can manage to stay small in size, but cutting edge tech games that are those "normal" to break 50gbs and Mario Odyssey are two completely different worlds.

I think you misunderstood, I know why games end up having huge file sizes. But I think developers need to consider that a 50 GB+ download will cripple some of our bandwidths and I've avoided buying games at certain times because I did not want to pay for breaking my bandwidth limit.

I think developers are just fucking lazy now and don't know how to optimize code.  Its like they rush up to toilet while hurrying to pull their pants down to shotgun blast shit all over the toliet bowl and then proudly walking away without flushing or wiping their ass.

Apparently almost every game is released in beta now.  Consumers are just beta testers now.
