Yeah, I don't think 1998 will ever be topped. You could throw in Rogue Squadron, Grim Fandango, Baldur's Gate, etc.

2017 is shaping up nicely, but it's not quite in the upper stratum yet. Maybe we can revisit this at the end of the year.

Yeah, I feel you. I could also throw in Megeman Legends, Yoshi's Island, Star Ocean 2, SaGa Frontier, and Turok 2. It was a phenominal year. It's just not a financial possibility to release that many AAA games anymore.
