from my understanding the PS3 version already employs some kind of 4K rendering with downsampling - might only be the edges while the textures are ressed up with a different technique
what I know is that it's super sharp and jaggy free on my 1080p TV
in my PS2 playthrough I also thought that the game overstays it's welcome, but after platinuming the PS3 version I'm pretty certain it was pent up frustration from literally hours of that super annoying pseudo-talk (at first I thought it was cute..) and loading screens
