Well, I'd argue that they were ignorant back then more so than mad. Now they have the benefit of science knowledge and yet...

That's fair. Though, I still think I'd argue that this isn't really an example of the world going mad. I mean, today I saw a church in Florida claiming to have moved hurricane Irma with prayer. That's mad, this is just a differing of political opinions.

 

Edit: I'd also like to add that I actually think were going in a positive direction in respect to our maddness. You really don't need to go back that far in human history to find some crazy shit that used to be common.
