It sounds weird, but theres a link between sleep (less) -> stress (more).

Take the time you need to rest properly for a month or so and see if your stress isnt better from it.

My sleep pattern has been so fucked up since back in my high school days, so much so that I now average around three hours sleep per night and that feels normal to me, sometimes I'll only have two, some days I'll force myself to stay in bed and only end up with five hours anyway... it's as if I have some form of insomnia that has been brought on from a dreadfully abused sleep pattern for so long. 

I'd get that checked out because your insomnia might be contributing to your stress or your stress is preventing you from sleeping.
