It's not so much the broadcasters getting in trouble because it's ok , the trouble is the goverment wanted a plebiscite run by the electrol commission and that was defeated in the senate by opponents who saw the impact of the vitriol unleashed in irelands plebiscite so wanted a concious vote in parliament , something the minority but powerful conservative faction inside the ruling liberal party where against, they then went for a postal plebiscite run by the department of statstistics , something that didn't need legislation to get around having a vote in parliament , the problem is unlike the electrol commission model whose electrol laws covering advertising would have covered the plebiscite , there is none for the new postal plebiscite ,so this failure to put safegaurds into the new plebiscite has meant that the broadcasters have been left holding the ball in what is an very immotive subject no matter your side.
On another note this might be for nought since the high court has to rule on it's legality.
