It'd be like Iraq I assume, the military will collapse pretty quickly, but then militias and guerrilla movements will form and combat in a drawn-out battle.

I dont think that would happen in NK. In Iraq you had a leader in Saddam that kept the two religious sides apart for the most part and did a good job of controlling them. With Saddam gone, the two religious sides then went to war with each other and all hell broke loose. In NK you have a leader who squanders his peoples food and money on missles, treats his people and troops like crap and keeps most of them in the dark when it comes to anything outside of his country. I think once the actual war starts and Kim is killed you will have a vast majority in that country who are ok with combining the Koreas and elevating their way of life.  To my knowledge religion doesnt play into this at all which makes it a much easier situation.

Problem with this view is that people thought the same thing when the Taliban, Saddam and Ghaddafi were the targets it's only after when people saw what these lot were suppressing when they realized just how much of a bad idea it was going to war with these lot. The's a reason they say better the devil you know as you don't know who will come after and the past 15 years have been a prime example of that, I wouldn't count out there being militant groups or some next nutter to take Kim's place if he is removed.
