I mean, like you said there's only really shoopufs and chocobos, and as funny as Kentucky Fried Chocobo sounds.... I'm not really sure people would eat that Of course there's also the possibility that pyreflies and fiends haven't been around for ever either. I just saw this on the FF wikia too "After Yuna's Calm began, the tradition of performing sendings seems to have ended. Final Fantasy X-2 Ultimania Omega elaborates that pyreflies continued to appear in great numbers as the destruction of Sin had broken the cycle of sending the dead to the Farplane resulting in the sudden increase of fiends, as pyreflies are their lifeforce". If post-Sin Spira doesn't need sendings anymore to prevent fiends occuring, then it's possible pre-Sin Spira was similar. |
That could have been a plausible explanation, and I was ready to accept it, but unfortunately, Zanarkand developed the Sending rite before the Zanarkand vs Bevelle war that led to Sin being born, therefore something forced Zanarkand to develop the rite, but it's unusual that life managed to outlive fiends at that point.
I wouldn't trust Ultimania anyway, Ultimania is like explanations that generally cause more issues than solutions. xD
