I just noticed that byline says the article is written by Geoff Keighley. Ahh the good ol' days. It's funny how MS and Sony are both literally quoted as wanting to kill each other at some point, and people wonder why crossplay isn't happening any time soon. It's interesting how gung ho Ballmer was on the 360, after the massive misfire the first one was financially. With the OG Xbox, they were personally taking a huge wash to put a PIII machine in console form in people's homes, and got burned for it. They were willing to spend whatever it took to have a foothold in the market, profits be damned.

Their entrance in the console space did move things for the better in some aspects. Consoles have PC architecture to their design approach and they're all the greater for it now. It's funny how Dreamcasted is now a verb in this industry. Shows how much fallout there was from Sega leaving the console space. That was the moment shit got real in console wars.
