When you're the "thing" and your game sells like hotcakes, it's easy to fall in the trap and rest on their laurels. But now there's a new thing, and it's even bigger than Rocket League, so they have to start paying attention to the game again to not lose players. |
Players they "lose" to the next big thing aren't coming back anyway and they aren't leaving because of a few small issues. What they're doing is simple maintenance for the current very active playerbase. Their big efforts in esports are enough to keep people hooked and bring new people in. Though I wonder, if you haven't played Rocket League until not what the fuck are you doing with your life?
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
