if it was real damage one crash would end your race.

i think thasts wht he means, do a 5 hour race just to have the computer crash into you in the last lap. Sure bud no one would bitch about it.

I guess you are too young to drive in real life, eh? Either that, or you're just not too observant.

It depends on the kind of crash. F1 cars frequently crash, say, on the first lap, and provided the damage isn't too extensive, the drivers make it back to the pits, get a new nose attachment and continue driving.

How many fender benders have you seen? Two cars crash, the drivers get on with their respective lawyers, and they continue driving on their way to work.

I've never driven a 5-hour race in a game (not that many LeMans 24-hour simulations you know, and normally races in real life don't last more  than 1.5 hours) but I have had much worse than what you mention: I've had "mechanical failures" on my car one lap before the checkered flag. That's part of what I want in a sim. And no, I don't bitch about it. I get pissed off, but such is the nature of racing. In fact, I love it when developers actually have the option to enable mechanical failures, engine failures or tire blowouts because, you know, that is what happens in real racing, and that is what I expect from, well, you know, a "Real Driving Simulator"...
