A game with a metascore below 75/100 isn't worth anybody's time or money.

But don't you think you're placing an over-reliance on what critics think with that kind of mentality?

No. I used to play games of that caliber back when I was a one console guy during the Genesis, N64, and early Gamecube days. Once I turned 18 I was finally able to afford my own game systems. When you have access to every game on every platform, it really opens your eyes to what you've been missing. I never understood the review scores for games like DBZ Budokai back in the GameCube days. Going back and playing it now, I see how button mashy it is.

Basically if you think games of that caliber are worth owning you are either a huge fan of the genre that, that game is from, or you don't own enough systems/games.

And of course I do actually read/watch reviews. Destructoid and Easy Allies can really convince me to get a game despite the metascore, but I've never seen them go against the rest of the critics so heavily as to recommend something that low. Easy Allies is probably the most trusted review source on the net right now. They made top four in Opencritic's ranking of trusted reviewers, based on Opencritic's personalization tab.
