I'm pretty sure it was specifically the NES games that felt slippery. I never finished them, but I played them on Wii and Wii U and just couldn't get into them after trying for hours on end. Even the music is like good ... but it gets tedious . Besides, I think the 2D Sonic games, Rayman Legends and Tropical Freeze are much better examples of how "solid" 2D platformers can be. The mario games are just kind of boring for what they are. I never reached the insane levels though, but I think i'd rather see a continuation of the 3D Land/World games than 2D ones lol. |
I like 2/3 of those, but this is a case of style vs. substance. Especially with regards to SMB 1, 2, 3, and W. Less style, but way more substance with regards to platforming.
