However, based on Nintendo's past consoles and compatibity and marketing issues, I dont think any of these will ever come to fruition.

And that is where your argument fails.
The Switch is not like any of Nintendo's past consoles before, in the fact that none of them also functioned like a handheld. And every single Nintendo handheld, from the 3DS all the way back to the original Game Boy has had multiple revisions and variations.

Yup, actually Switch like hybrid gave much more opportunities for different type revisions than any other Nintendo hardware, especially with strong point that Switch will be only Nintendo platform and where they stop to divide they resources on separate home console and separate handheld platforms.

The Switch is designed so well though. I don't really see any significant changes for it. The Original DS and 3DS needed revisions at the time and so did the GBA. I just don't see any huge flaws that a Switch revision would fix.

I am on the camp of no major revision except for maybe memory upgrades. They might make a smaller more simple version of the Switch for kids though.

Revisions/variations are not made just because there some flaws with current models, they are also made to offer to market different price points of platform for users with difrent needs. Do you really think 3DS had so many flaws that needed 6 revisions (including 2DS) to fix them, or that Sony relased PS4 Pro beacuse regular PS4 has some flaws!?

I almost agree with OP, revisions are going to become less frequent with the Switch ...

Transistor technology progression is slowing down ... (less chances to upgrade the chips)
Big form factor ? (how much bigger does the Switch need to be ?)
Non-portable SKU ? (effectively kills one of the selling points of the platform)

Actually revisions could become more frequent with Switch because with fact that Switch is hybrid there too many opportunities of different types of Switch hardware and price points.

Switch is 28nm and there is already 20nm Nvidia chip that gives better battery life and less heat. Switch doesn't need to be bigger, but always is nice to have more variations of hardware (look at 3DS). Nintendo already released 2DS like part of 3DS family, that tells us that Nintendo does not fear to make different versions of console.
