The more diehard fans on Serenes Forest and other communities like to complain about the romance/eugenics elements in Awakening and Fates, which is admittedly pretty dumb, considering these elements being not only optional, but also existing in previous games.

That being said, I'd also agree with Echoes being the best 3DS entry, simply due to how forgettable (Awakening) or terribly planned (Fates) the stories were. Echoes is the first FE since Radiant Dawn where I actually gave a damn about the conflict.
