English is an odd language, I don't envy non natives learning it. I think the Germans make it easier in terms of spelling and rules, I rarely hear them say "It is pronounced like this, except in these situations" which English is full of examples. Tomb, comb, bomb, was one I cannot imagine explaining to people.
