I don't know much about the numbers between this and last gen but I would think the industry from last gen was great financially. It's just unfortunate studios went down due to HD development being young and complicated. Regardless what brand you favor, having all three do well means great things. I think it allows greater diversity in audiences. Do you think PS or Xbox could get the elderly to play games like the Wii did? More people enjoying the hobby I love is great.

Last gen was the second-worst one in history when it comes to financials. The only period worse than that was the American video game crash in the early 1980s that took down console and game makers alike.

People forget that companies need profits to stay healthy and deliver products to us.
