Age of Empires IV won't launch on the Xbox. And it won't launch because:

1-If it was gonna be an XboxOne game, they would have said it.

2-Because they have revealed it at Gamescom in Germany, a country where PC gaming is still very important, instead of doing it at E3, which would have been a better place to announce a console game (and given by the trailer we've had, claiming that they weren't ready to show it at E3 is just silly).

And 3-Because Halo Wars 2 sold sh!t on the XboxOne, and I doubt MSoft wants to make the same mistake again.

So please, relax, it won't launch on console.

Now, the only doubt is if they'll launch it on Steam, and they're smart enough to not hinder the possible Windows Store sales by announcing now that it will also come to Steam, so we'll have to wait and see.

I think it can launch on Xbox One in the future with keyboard and mouse requirements. Without gamepad support at all.

If they do that, it won't matter. The game would have been designed for PC and M&K in mind, and later ported to consoles. PC gamers would still get the game as it should be.

That said, it doesn't make sense for MSoft to do that. They'd either announce both versions at the same time, or announce the console version first and later a port of it to PC, and that's because MSoft needs to sell consoles, PCs sell by themselves.

Good to hear. Now all we need in life is a Warcraft 3 Remaster and i can retire from gaming.

EDIT

AoE2 is already remastered on Steam, is this going to be just a port from Steam or is this a different Remaster?

They're calling them "definitive editions", so I'd guess that it's another version of the HD remake. Maybe it's the same game but with all the DLCs.

We'll have to wait and see.

Please excuse my bad English.
