Similiar. In an abusive relationship for way too long when I young.  Why? I convinced myself due to low self esteem it was what I deserved.  No one deserves that.

I hope you rebounded from that terrible relationship. No one should be with such terrible people

I did and am my a kind husband now.  The only silver lining was I had to be stronger to get out of that situation and resolved to never be treated that way again.
