People seem to forget that both MS and Sony do a lot more than video games and thus have plenty of ulterior with getting a box under your TV. They also seem to forget that Sony sells computers with Windows, and MS sells music by Sony artists on its Zune store.

Now when it comes down to the battle for the living room, I'd say MS has the advantage. Most of this has to do with the software and user interface experience they have, which is really more important than things on the hardware side of things. Sony has always been weak in software, and the PS3 has been a great example of this. Of course MS also has more money to invest in this sort of thing, and they've done a good job courting content producers with the 360 video store, both of which help considerably.

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"
