If the promotion comes with more working hours I'd think twice,since you're already losing private time. Then again, it might open up opportunities in the future but I'd go for the best balance in work/private.
I ride my bycicle to work in 30 minutes, and am considering a car for fall/winter. Saves me at least thirty minutes each day as well.
