Can someone explain North Korea to me?

North Korea is one of several examples of how socialism leads to despotism.

The twist here is the the Kim Jong-un, like his predecessors, positions himself as a god among people and anyone who opposes him is jailed, tortured, and/or killed. Nazi germany-style.

This condition is owed to Korea splitting during a civil war in the 1950s. South Korea embraced capitalism, while the North attempted to forcibly impose socialism across all of Korea.
