I think he's refering to the ones who kept saying "WiiU is the #1/best selling console in Japan", even though PS4 passed it a lot earlier than Sep 2016 if you look at it launch alligned.

Don't know if they're the exact same people who are now saying that Switch is #1, using the opposite reasoning.
But those comments ahve been common.
