That and revenue from XBox Live is likely printing them a fair chunk of cash.

XBox One would have to sell like the Wii U, Dreamcast, or GameCube for MS to consider exiting the market. $9 billion in revenue if that number is legit likely yields them a fair amount of profit. 

^^^ What this post said is logical sense.

And they are smart by way way of future proofing their gaming business to beyond consoles,- pc, windows 10 devices etc. That is the future as consoles will not be around forever and gaming will become a service on multiple devices such as tv, mobile , powerful tablets (that plug into tv) pc, laptops and so on.
