Not that I disagree with you that Tlou is one of the best in its genre, but I'm curious what do you think beats TLG in its genre. I would like to try those games :)

Well truth be told this game is to unique to really fit a genre. If I had to give one it would be a puzzle platformer, but that doesn't really do it justice, since the gameplay isn't the thing that really stands out (in both games it is good till very good but not great).

http://twinfinite.net/2016/12/7-games-like-the-last-guardian/2/ You might want to look at these games SOTC and a tale of two brothers are pretty great although not really comparable. But they all share some elements with the game.

I played all of those and I do rank Ico and SotC above TLG, maybe just for nostalgia sake, higher emotional attachment with age. All 3 of their games are awesome and unique. I didn't get far into Ori though, it looks lovely but its gameplay is not my thing. (hampered by wildly fluctuating frame rate on my laptop, not fun to play) Funny they add tlou in the list, Majin and the forsaken kingdom would be a better fit, yet nobody played that.
