Well some people primarily game on PS4, but bought XB1 for exclusives too. But there aren't enough exclusives on XB1 to justify that sort of a purchase. So it isn't just primarily PC gamers that this effects. But yeah, PC gamers really do praise MS for this. They want exclusives to go away alltogether, so that they can just get a PC and not have to worry about extra console purchases. For a lot of them, any company that gets in the way of this is evil in their eyes. This is where the aggressive emulation of just released games comes from. It's also where all the port begging comes from. When you take a look at this industry as a whole, there's a huge chunk of, critically well recieved, games that just don't come to PC right away. I'm talking about games that either never come to PC, or take five or six years to get an official port. These games make up 40% of all releases garnering a metascore over 80/100. This really annoys people that primarily game on PC, because they just don't want to have to shell out extra money for a console. TL/DR: PC gamers want everything to no longer be exlusive so they aren't obligated into buying a console. MS works towards this goal, therefore they deserve praise according to PC gamers. |
Yes. But first of all MS is just one of the three platform holders, so there is no way that they can somehow make PC gamers happy with making them to play all the existing games on PC. And you seem to forget that MS are the worst of the big three this gen considering the quality of their games. So I doubt that PC gamers really want to play these games in the first place. Also, PC gamers literally hate Windows Store and won't use it no matter what. Just read some PC gamers forum and you'll understand what I mean.

I can see said product becoming "completely unnecessary and worthless" only if the person buying said product, in this case an X1, would game on PC 100% of the time if given the choice between PC and console. Some people like both in different situations.
Also, X1 losing a game to PC doesn't render those X1 games unplayable. Killer Instinct is still perfectly playable on X1 despite the fact that the game is also coming to PC. Nier Automata coming to PC does not render the game unplayable on PS4... Unless of course the PS4 crashes every time it tries to run NA now that NA is also available on PC. I highly doubt that's the case. |
Nice. That's what I've meant a few posts earlier. Only the guys who play all multiplatform games on PC would be dissapointed with buying XB1 at launch.

Neir has always being available on PC. It was just another PC/PS4 game that the XB1 missed out on due to having no precense in Japan, and having low sales. |
Almost every Play Anywhere MS game was always available on PC at launch. Same as with Nier:Automata. Xbox One only games are still Xbox One only games and I doubt they will be ported to PC. The only games that got ported are Killer Instinct (starting from Season 3) and Forza 6 which is more like free to play demo of Xbox One game.
